Here is an “achievement” : two headshots with a sniper rifle in Halo 3. This will most likely never happen again.
Here is another : receiving my UNC Band’s “soap dish” for four years of marching band! It is hard to believe that this summer I will NOT be going to another drumline or band camp. And that the next time I visit Kenan stadium, I’ll be able to watch a game as any other fan.
It’s just around the corner…. 16 days!

TWC wants to change Internet plans from unlimited to a really bad idea: tiered pricing. It would work just like cell phone plans: you guess how much data you might use and get charged extra if you go over. $1/gigabyte in overage fees. wtf? It would be cheaper to buy a DVD and mail it to someone else.
However, there is some good news. Some of the areas (i.e. Greensboro) going under trial for the new tiered pricing are being “canceled” or “delayed” because people are making a big enough fuss about it.
Why would TWC want to do this? Because FREE (as in beer) video streaming services like Hulu and PAID services like Netflix are slowly cutting away at their dying TV market. Why watch a show on TV when you can watch it online at your own leisure with fewer commercials? These caps would also hurt other legitimate users: people who buy games online (and download them), videos, music, etc.
This really ticks me off. I would go back to DSL before I would sucomb to this highway robbery.
[UNC students need to learn how to protest]
Step 1. Start a controversial group on campus, one that supposedly is “White Supremacy” related and anti-immigrant.
Step 2. Invite a highly controversial speaker, one Tom Tancredo, a former congressman who would apparently love to blow up Mecca.
Step 3. Attempt to protest the speaker from speaking by pulling out a huge sign in front of him and breaking a window. Police try to control the crowd with warning sprays of pepper spray and Tazer shots.
Step 4. Make our university look like a bunch of liberal idiots. Thanks.

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Well, this past week sure has been fun:
- Monday
- Mini-midterm in World since 1945
- Group discussion led by my group in recitation based off of my research findings for NC History
- Tuesday
- A “simple” compiler/interpreter program was due for my Programing Language Concepts class
- Thursday
- Midterm in my Programing Language Concepts class
- Friday
- Paper AND in-class “quiz” for NC History
The good thing now is that all of this done and over with (and some of it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be). And I even had my entire weekend planned out: do absolutely nothing productive — which mainly means play my xBox 360.
Unfortunately for me, my Xbox 360 decided to start freezing up on me Thursday. Then eventually it gave me the most wonderful thing ever: the Red Ring of Death. And the Red Ring of Death means hardware failure.
So then I go online to check out Xbox.com’s support page for repairing my 360. I had previously registered my 360 on the site before, but it wasn’t listing my console. And whenever I tried to re-register my console, the website complained that my serial number was invalid. Well of course it is invalid, I’ve already registered it! So to pile things up on me like this did not make my Thursday evening a very happy one. Additionally, having to send my 360 to get it repaired will mean not having it for at least 2-3 weeks (hopefully less). It looks like I’m going to be dusting off the Wii for awhile.
Fortunately, I just checked the website a few moments ago and it seems that it is no longer broken.
I think I’m going to go with their “print your own label” route, but I need to get a box and packing supplies to ship it to M$. And I’ll probably have it return shipped to home instead of school.
In the mean time, I’ve been heavily considering buying a $200 Arcade version of the 360, since I already have everything else (hard drive, controllers, etc.). Why would I do this besides being impatient? The newer models (haha, the irony in that word: my xbox was manufactured in January of 2008 and I bought it over the summer in June) are built with a newer motherboard inside of them that does not have the faulty RROD problem of the older motherboards. So I could buy a newer model of the 360 (that is less likely to RROD again), get my current one repaired, and sell it to recover funds when I get it back. It would be nice if my RROD’d xbox would be replaced with a newer “Jasper” model, but I know I’ll simply get an older “defective” model back. This reminds me of when I broke my RockBand bass drum pedal. You’d think they replace it with a better and improved pedal, but instead they give you another copy of the same defective product – which is waiting to break again any day now (so far my new pedal hasn’t cracked or anything yet, knock on wood).
Anyways, I’m still debating on whether or not I’m going to go with the “plan B” route of picking up a newer model 360.
In other news:
- I went home Valentine’s Day weekend was able to go see my beautiful niece and snagged a few pictures.
- I’m getting up at 5:30 am tomorrow to join the drumline in playing for the Dance Marathon crowd (24 hour marathon of standing on your feet to raise money for a charity). Rebekah is actually participating in Dance Marathon, I don’t think I’d last that long.
- I’m still going to do absolutely nothing productive this weekend! Happy Friday!
We apparently need more Walmarts in the west.

It is essentially a compilation of everyone’s photos from Obama’s inauguration into 3d space. Very cool looking. I really like the third slide show where pictures transition from one to another based on what is on the TV at that moment.
